In a commendable display of compassion and social responsibility, judges of the Madhya Pradesh High Court have unanimously decided to contribute a minimum of ₹5,000 each from their monthly salaries to support those in need.
This noble endeavor comes under the banner of ‘Boond,’ an initiative launched by Chief Justice RV Malimath, with the aim of uplifting the underprivileged segments of Madhya Pradesh.
Chief Justice Malimath announced the heartwarming initiative during the flag hoisting ceremony held at the High Court on Independence Day. Speaking about the initiative, he highlighted that beyond their judicial duties, the judiciary should play an active role in giving back to society and addressing the needs of the less fortunate.
Detailing the mechanics of the initiative, Chief Justice Malimath revealed that the 33 sitting judges of the High Court will collectively contribute a substantial amount of ₹1,65,000 every month, totaling ₹19,80,000 annually.
He emphasized that every rupee collected through this endeavor would be directed towards aiding the poorest members of Madhya Pradesh.
Elaborating on the distribution of funds, Chief Justice Malimath explained that the donated funds would be channeled in ways that directly benefit the recipients. Essential commodities such as food, water, clothing, and assistance during emergencies would be procured and supplied to those in need.
The ‘Boond’ initiative, as Chief Justice Malimath described, symbolizes the significant impact that even a small contribution can have on a larger cause, akin to a drop creating ripples in an ocean.
It’s worth noting that the initiative is solely driven by the Chief Justice and the sitting judges of the Madhya Pradesh High Court. External donations will not be accepted, ensuring that the endeavor remains a genuine and collective effort from within the judiciary.
