Bollywood Actor and Philanthropist Sonu Sood was allowed to withdraw his plea and the case is now left to the authority which is required to carry forward the case according to the law and order.

The Apex Court Bench comprising Chief Justice S.A. Bobde, Justices A.S. Bopanna and V. Ramasubramanian had also directed the authorities to refrain from taking any coercive action against Sonu Sood.

The plea challenged the Bombay High Court’s 13th January 2021 order which had dismissed Sonu Sood’s petition against the BMC’s allegations that Sonu Sood had wrongfully converted his six-storey residential building into a hotel.

Law helps only those who are diligent,” said the High Court while dismissing the plea.

Following this, the actor had moved the Supreme Court of India.

The BMC has issued a notice to Sonu Sood alleging that he was involved in illegal construction in Juhu, Mumbai. However, the actor rejected the claims of BMC stating that he had only altered the interiors of his residence. He had also stated that prior permission was taken from the Municipal Commissioner.

An application was also made before the concerned authorities in 2018 and the plea sought the enforcement of the same. With the Apex Court providing relief, the Bollywood Actor lauded the order stating, “the Hon’ble Supreme Court has finally given me a breath of fresh air and time to take corrective measures.”
