Justice Amjad Ahtesham Sayed Sworn as the 27th Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh HC

Shimla: On Thursday, Justice Amjad Ahtesham Sayed sworn to become the 27th Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court. He was administered the oath of office at the Raj Bhawan by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur was also present.

The ceremony was held in the Darbar Hall of the Raj Bhawan, where Chief Secretary Ram Subhag Singh conducted the proceedings of the oath ceremony and read out the India’s Warrant of Appointment by the President. To welcome the new Chief Justice, a full Court welcome address was given at the High Court.

The Registrar General, Virender Singh, conducted the proceedings of the Full Court Welcome Address. In his address, Justice Amjad Antesham Sayed said   sworn to provide justice to all of the country’s residents, according to , who also stated that the judiciary was crucial in safeguarding constitutional ideals and morality: He emphasised the importance of delivery of justice that is easily accessible, speedy, and cost effective, especially to the poor and those in need.

He was on the Panel of Central Government Panel of the Bombay High Court and an Assistant Government Pleader, Bombay HC, on the Original Side.

On behalf of the Union of India/State Government, he appeared in Public Interest Litigation cases including mangroves, dumping of garbage, free or concessional medical treatment for the poor in charitable hospitals, biomedical waste, and malnutrition, among other others.
