Jabalpur Hospital Chief and VHP leader booked for operating fake Remedsivir Racket

Madhya Pradesh Police booked Sarabjit Singh Mokha, director of Jabalpur city Hospital, Devender Chaurasia and Swapan jain for selling 1 lakh fake injections to patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

As per the Jabalpur Additional SP Rohit Kashwani, they have been booked under Sections 274, 275, 308 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code along with some of the sections of the Disaster Management Act and the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. 

Sarabjeet Singh Mokha is the president of the Jabalpur Vishwa Hindu Parishad of the Narmada division, he also owns the City Hospital.

Devendra Chaurasia works as his manager and Swapan Jain handles dealerships of pharma companies. Swapan Jain was arrested by the Surat Police on 7th May. However, Mokha and Chaurasia are still absconding.

As per sources, Mokha sourced 500 injections from indore and sold them for Rs. 35000-40000 to the patients at his hospital.  

VHP Prant Mantri, Rajesh Tiwari, has said Mokha is now relieved of his charges and that the police must take stringent actions against such people.

“We have recent days set up a nodal officer of the rank of Additional Superintendent of Police, under who leadership an SIT has been formed to track black marketing of Remdesivir and oxygen. We are trying to break that intricate network,” told by Bhagwat Singh, Jabalpur Inspector General.

Further Vivek Tankha, a Congress Rajya Sabha member demanded a CBI investigation of this Multi-State scam. He quoted that 3000 such injections reached Indore and  3,500 reached Jabalpur. He also warned if CBI doesn’t undertake the issue, congress will knock the doors of judiciary. 

Gujarat Police had busted the scam earlier and arrested two people from a farm house near Surat where over one lakh fake Remdesivir injections were allegedly made from salt and glucose. Whereas, Indore police has booked 11 people under the National Security Act till now.
