In a group of PILs pertaining to COVID-19 management in Goa, the Bombay High Court in Goa has asked the petitioners for suggestions on finding solutions to various issues related to COVID-19.

The petitioners suggested the setting up a judicial commission in order to inquire upon the deaths due to oxygen shortage.

The South Goa Advocates Association (SGAA) being one of the petitioners has said that many people who had lost their lives due to oxygen shortage were breadwinners in their families, many children have lost both of their parents, the SGAA pointed that these families and children should be identified and should be compensated.

The SGAA has also suggested a committee that should be set up by the state government comprising of doctors and statisticians in order to carry out a complete inspection of the COVID-19 deaths in the state.

“Such an audit will not only reveal the exact number of COVID-19 deaths but also serve help the concerned authorities to save lives during the impending third wave of COVID-19,” said the SGAA.

In the PIL filed by the activist Armando Gonsalves, the lawyers said that the state government should consider the RT-PCR test more important than any other tests as the Government has recently said the negative report of the rapid antigen test should be considered for people coming in Goa and making RT-PCR not that necessary.

The state government is expected soon to give its reply to the suggestions made out by the petitioners

The Court will hear the case on June 17.
