EAM Jaishankar arrives in New York to discuss COVID-related Cooperation with US officials

External Affairs Minister (EAM), S. Jaishankar reached New York with respect to his US visit, to meet with senior United States officials and discuss COVID related cooperation between the two countries.

TS Tirumurti, Ambassador of India to the UN received Jaishankar on his first visit after India entered the UN Security Council.

Jaishankar’s visit would last till May 28th as per the External Affairs Ministry.

Furthermore, Jaishankar is expected to meet UN secretary General Antonio Guterres and following which he will hold a discussions with his counterpart secretary of state Antony Blinken in Washington DC.

Additionally, Jaishankar would also be meeting cabinet members and senior officials of the administration dealing with the bilateral relationship, accompanied by two interactions with business forums on economic and COVID- related cooperation between India and the US.

USA is playing a key role in assisting India’s fight against the virus, it has already provided large oxygen plants, concentrators, medicines, raw material to vaccine manufacturers like Serum Institute of India and it has also backed India’s sponsored proposal on TRIPS waiver at the WTO.
