The Delhi HC held the Centre for failing to file its response in a case lodged Bengaluru resident and Climate activist, Disha Ravi against the alleged violation of her right to fair trail and right to privacy.

Justice Rekha Palli while addressing a counsel of the central govt said, “What is the meaning of the last opportunity. Should I impose costs on you? What is the sanctity of last and final opportunity?”

Covid-19 cases were taken as a reason for delay in filing the reply. While adjourning the case to August, the court, asked the govt to file a reply within four weeks.

Ravi is out on bail in the case registered by the police to investigate “toolkit” tweeted by Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg. In Disha’s petition, she sought direction to restrain the Delhi police from leaking her private chats to media.

The court in February directed the media editors to excise proper editorial control over news content to protect the case being hampered in any manner.
