In the latest development in the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Shahi Idgah Mosque dispute case, a petitioner who had claimed to be a descendant of the deity was challenged in the court on July 5.
A group of five applicants including Mahavir Singh Yaduvansi, Chandrapal Singh, Ram Babu, Ajai Kumar and Pramod Kumar rejected the defendant Manish Yadav’s claim that he was a descendant of Lord Krishna.
Appearing before the court, the five petitioners submitted a detailed history of the Yadav dynasty before the judge, to which Lord Krishna belonged. Manish Yadav’s counsel rejected the claim of the petitioners.
Lucknow resident Manish Yadav not only narrated in detail how he is a descendant of Lord Krishna but also appealed to the court to dismiss the PIL of the petitioners, but also impose a heavy cost on the litigants in the interest of justice.
In a big development in May 2022, a Mathura court allowed a petition seeking the removal of the Shahi Idgah and also accepted to hear petition seeking to seal the mosque near Krishna Janmabhoomi.
The petitioners sought the ownership of 13.37 acres of land of Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi and also the removal of Shahi Idgah Mosque.
Shahi Idgah mosque comes under the purview of the The Places of Worship Act, 1991.
It is opined that, “An act to prohibit conversion of any place of worship and to provide for the maintenance of the religious character of any place of worship as it existed on the 15th day of August, 1947, and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.”
