The Delhi High Court Bench sets a precedent by the efficient discharge of judicial duties.

A Vacation Bench of Single Judge Jasmeet Singh of Delhi High Court held a virtual hearing of a matter nearly till midnight.

The Delhi High Court is currently on annual summer vacation. Only urgent matters are being heard on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and such other days it thinks fit, through video conferencing due to the pandemic.

Yet, the High Court is sitting beyond normal Court hours to complete the hearing of matters listed.

Earlier in the morning, Justice Jasmeet Singh assembled for a hearing in a Division Bench with Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani at 10:30 am and heard around 19 cases listed before the bench.

Thereafter, at 3 pm, Justice Jasmeet Singh again assembled the Court as Single-Judge Bench and started hearing the matters listed before him.

A total of 40 cases were heard by Justice Jasmeet Singh in a single day for over 13 hours till midnight.

This was not the first time that a late-night hearing was held. Earlier, a Division Bench of Justices Naveen Chawla and Justice Asha Menon had also heard Vacation Bench matters till late night on June 16.
