The Delhi High Court has quashed an attempt to commit culpable homicide case after the parties involved reached a settlement. The court has directed all 24 individuals involved in the matter to perform “basic cleaning work” for three days at four police stations, with the groups of individuals dividing themselves accordingly.

Justice Saurabh Banerjee stated, “The said 24 persons shall be at liberty to decide amongst themselves as to the composition of each group of 6 persons and also the Police Station where each group shall undertake the aforesaid basic cleaning duty.”

The case involved an FIR registered in July under Section 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code, 1860. However, a compromise deed was reached between the accused and the complainants on September 2, leading the accused persons to file a petition seeking the quashing of the FIR.

The complainants informed the court that they had voluntarily settled all disputes with the accused persons, had no desire to pursue criminal proceedings, and did not object to the quashing of the FIR.

Granting the plea, the court directed all parties to divide themselves into four groups, each consisting of six persons, and perform basic cleaning work at Mehrauli, Fatehpur Beri, Maidan Garhi, and Neb Sarai police stations on Monday, Thursday, and Sunday of the week starting from September 18. Justice Banerjee emphasized that this work should meet the satisfaction of the respective Investigating Officer.
