A Delhi High Court flagged the issue of police attendants attached in the Court as “unarmed” despite the security threat faced by Courts.

Additional Sessions Judge Sonu Agnihotri observed that the Naib Court attached to Court premises left without permission. On being questioned, the Naib Court told the Judge that he was not the Personal Security Officer (PSO) of the Court and his duty ends with Additional Public Prosecutor.

The Judge noted in the detailed Order, “The attitude of the Prosecution Naib Court seems to be strange as till the Court is functioning, there can be any requirement of services like delivery of any urgent order, etc.”

A Naib Court is a Policeman that acts as a bridge between the local Police Station, jail authorities and Court has the jurisdiction of a particular area. They keep a record of summons issued or direction of Police Officers connected to a case to ensure compliance of the Court Order.

The Court was hearing the matter while dismissing an Anticipatory Bail of a man accused of stalking a girl after their break-up and creating various social media accounts to post her pictures and videos to defame her. Furthermore, the Sessions Judge sought a report from the city Police Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of Police regarding the matter and kept the matter for December 8.
