A bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Prateek Jalan in Delhi High court on Monday said it expected that the Aam Aadmi Party will go through the measures issued by the CPCB (Central Pollution Control Board) for the waste management of the waste produced during the diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19 patients.

The court observed the submission by the Delhi government’s additional standing counsel Sanjoy Ghose and advocate Naman Jain.

The court said that,

“We expect the respondents that the guidelines and protocols shall be scrupulously followed by them.”

The observation was made when the Aam Aadmi Party government said the protocols for handling and disposing of the COVID-19 test kits are in place, and action will be taken against those who don’t follow them.

The “Guidelines for Handling, Treatment, and Disposal of Waste Generated during Treatment/Diagnosis/Quarantine of COVID-19 Patients” issued by the CPCB was placed on record by the state government.

The court was considering the PIL petition by a lawyer Pankaj Mehta complaining about the unsystematic disposal of used swabs from rapid antigen tests for COVID-19.
