A writ petition was filed in the Apex Court to get clarity and status of the ongoing investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The intention behind the writ petition was to remind the Supreme Court about the period being taken by the CBI.

The petitioners were Mrs. Puneet Kaur Dhanda and her husband – Advocate Vineet Dhanda (Supreme Court).

The Supreme Court of India allowed CBI intervention and probe to take place on the recommendation by the Bihar government four months back, but, till now, the CBI has neither named any suspect nor updated the public about the progress and status of the investigation.

The petition filed asks the Supreme Court to look into the matter and announce a deadline for the completion of the investigation.

The petition stresses the fact that the untimely death of the actor shook the entire country and, as the Supreme Court of India has put utmost faith in the investigative agency, there should be some progress report given to the public.

It further mentions that the time given to the CBI has lapsed, and the CBI has failed to publish any report to answer the people.

The petition also stated that the CBI is not acting responsibly. The lapse of 90 days has taken place, and the CBI is now due to the delay bringing a bad name to the justice system.

The petition prays the court to issue a writ, order, or direct the CBI to conclude the investigation within two months.
