A deeply disturbing incident has shaken Madhya Pradesh, as a 35-year-old rape convict, who was granted early release due to a reduced prison term, has committed another rape against a minor girl in the Satna district on Wednesday evening.

The accused, identified as Rakesh Verma, a resident of Krishna Nagar area in Satna, was swiftly apprehended by authorities.

Police officials reported that Verma lured the minor girl, using caressing gestures, before brutally assaulting her. The condition of the victim is critical, prompting her transfer to Rewa Medical College hospital for urgent medical attention.

City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Mahendra Singh Chouhan disclosed that the accused had a prior conviction for the rape of a four-and-a-half-year-old minor girl 12 years ago. Following his conviction, he was sentenced to a 10-year prison term, but due to perceived good behavior, he was released after serving seven years. Tragically, Verma has committed the same horrendous crime again, shortly after being released from jail a year and a half ago.

CSP Chouhan commented, “The accused Rakesh Verma lured the girl from Jagatdev Talab area in the district around 5 pm on Wednesday. Once the incident was reported, we located the minor and unfortunately confirmed that she had been raped by the accused.”

The victim has received initial medical assistance and has been subsequently transferred to Rewa for more extensive treatment. The police have acted promptly, filing relevant charges against the accused and taking him into custody. An ongoing investigation is currently underway.

Addressing the seizure of the accused’s assets, CSP Chouhan assured that appropriate measures will be taken in due course.
