Today, Chief Justice of India NV Ramana filed a police complaint after a Twitter account in his name was discovered posting false messages on the social media site.

The Chief Justice, who was sworn in on Saturday, does not have a Twitter or any other social media site.

The post, which was sent from the handle @NVRamanna, has since been deleted, and the account stands suspended.

The deleted tweet said, “Due to Ajit Doval’s diplomacy, the US agreed to supply raw materials to India #vaccination @PMOIndia.”

He was sworn in by President Ram Nath Kovind in a small ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi, with attendance restricted due to Covid restrictions.

The new Chief Justice said, “We are going through testing times as we battle the Covid wave. Lawyers, judges and court staff are all affected due to the virus. Some hard measures may be necessary to break the chain of transmission. We can defeat the pandemic together with dedication.”
