The Bombay High Court has quashed an order issued by the BMC against the demolition of Kangana Ranaut’s bungalow.
The High Court concluded that the BMC’s order was “actuated by malice.”
Furthermore, the Court has appointed a surveyor to measure the damages done to the property and submit the report in 2021 with regards to compensation for Ranaut.
A Bench of Justices S J Kathawalla and Riyaz I Chagla has also cautioned the Bollywood actress to practice restraint while speaking on a public platform.
The judgement read:
“There is a case of legal malice for this court to issue a writ.
The manner in which demolition was carried out was unauthorized and sinister to prevent the petitioner from taking course to legal remedies.”
Senior Advocate Dr. Birendra Saraf appeared for Kangana Ranaut, and Senior Advocate Aspi Chinoy represented the civic body.
On September 9, the BMC had begun to demolish the parts of the actress’s bungalow-cum-office in Pali.
The civic body claimed that the constructions made were illegal as no prior permission from the officials was taken by the Bollywood actress.
