Bombay HC orders to use A4 size paper for filing Pleadings in HC

The High Court of Bombay has decided for allowing the use of A4 size paper printed on both sides for filing of pleadings in the High Court.

Advocate SR Nargolkar informed the Division bench comprising of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice GS Kulkarni that the High Court administration’s notification had been issued, effectively amending the Bombay High Court (Appellate Side) Rules, 1960 and Bombay High Court (Original Side) Rules, 1980 to implement the use of A4 paper printed on both sides.

Nargolkar also reported that on July 6, 2021, the notification was issued in the gazette. In accordance with the notification, the petition stood redressed, he submitted.

The petitioner’s counsel Advocate PR Katneshwarkar investigated that if the notification was only applicable for Subordinate Courts in Maharashtra butAdvocate SR Nargolkar informed that the notification was for the High Court as well.

The bench ordered Katneshwarkar to make a representation to the Registrar General of the High Court to issue directions for the Subordinate Courts to permit the use of A4 size papers.
