BJP MLA arrested by Lawmakers’ court

On 7th January, a special court while was hearing cases involving lawmakers passed an order arresting Vikram Saini, BJP’s Khatauli MLA.

Vikram Saini was arrested as he failed to appear before in a case relating to the defiling of the place of worship which triggered communal hatred during the Muzaffarnagar riots in 2013.

Ram Sudh Singh, a special judge issued a non-bailable warrant against Vikram Saini and instructed the police to arrest him and produce him before the court on 11th January.

Vikram Saini was arrested under section 153 A and section 295 of the Indian Penal Code for the promotion of the communal enmity and defiling of the place of worship in Kawal village on 21st February 2013, during the riots.

Vikram Saini was elected to the Uttar Pradesh Assembly in 2017 and also faced a case of attempt to murder along with 27 other accused, during the 2013 riots in the district.

Vikram Saini appeared before the court relating to the above case in 2020 and had been arrested earlier for the same. He was granted bail in 2014 for his alleged role in the riots.
