On a case handled by the top court on 7th January 2021, concerning a plea seeking reliefs such as a CBI probe on the assembly of a large amount of people at the Anand Vihar Bus Terminal and Tablighi Jamaat assembly at Nizammudin Markaz in Delhi post lockdown the Supreme Court, with a three-judge Bench of CJI SA Bobde, A S Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian, commented saying that the farmers agitation protests would bring about the same affects as the cases concerned in the plea. The Court asked the Solicitor General Tushar Mehta if the farmers were protected against the COVID-19 Pandemic and the SG, representing the Centre, said that they were not.

The plea had been filed by lawyer Supriya Pandita stating that the police had failed in controlling the congregation of people concerned in the Tablighi Jamaat.

Questions were also made on the lack of knowledge of the whereabouts of Maulana Saad considered to be the leader of the assembly mentioned in the plea but was dismissed by the bench which stated that the presence of one person was irrelevant to the question of people being properly protected in the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Centre had last year already stated that any probe into the assembly of people concerned in the plea need not be taken by the CBI as it was already worked on by the Delhi Police.
