On 16th November  2021, Andhra Pradesh High court suggested the appointment of Senior IAS officer N Prabhakaran Reddy as a Special Officer, to the State Election Commission so as to supervise the counting of votes of the Kuppam Civic body polls.

Based on the lunch motion petition filed by the contestant of the TDP party, the lawyers Posani Venkateshwaralu and G Subbarao appeared before the high court requesting for video recording of Vote Casting as well as counting to be taken, the court contended to their request.

They expressed that local Officials cannot be trusted and a Special Observer is to be appointed. For which the Election Commission has responded to the High Court that a Special Observer, i.e, Senior IAS Officer N Prabhakaran Reddy, has already been appointed.

This is being done on account of reports of false voters and fake voters taking part in the voting. The court has asked the SEC to submit the video recordings before the court by Wednesday.

Elections for Municipalities, City Panchayat, and Nellore Corporation have been held on 15th November 2021 with an uneasy atmosphere.
