Four Senior leaders namely State Ministers Subrata Mukherjee and Firhad Hakim, TMC MLA Madan Mitra and former City Mayor Sovan Chatterjee appeared before the Special CBI Judge at a Court in Kolkata facing trial in the Narada case.

The CBI investigating the case had arrested the four leaders on May 17 and produced them before the Special CBI Court virtually owing to protests outside its office at Nizam Palace by a mob.

However, the Special CBI Court had granted bail on the same day but the order was stayed by the High Court remanding them to judicial custody.

Later, the Division Bench of the High court, modifying its earlier stay order, placed them under house arrest on May 21.

The Calcutta High Court granted interim bail on May 28 to the four accused.

The matter was then referred to a larger bench of five judges after judges of a Division Bench presided by Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal differed on granting interim bail to the accused.

Judge Anupam Mukerjee had directed the four accused to appear before the Court on June 4 while hearing the case on April 17 granting interim bail.
