Termination of a Govt. officer on Vague Allegation of joining Farmer’s Protest: Punjab & Haryana HC issues Notice

Shivangi Prakash-

Punjab & Haryana High Court has issued a notice to the Haryana Government for allegedly terminating a Government Servant, Rajuddin, based on a vague allegation that the petitioner engaged in a farmer’s strike at Tikri Border in Delhi.

The bench of Justice Arun Monga further ordered that the position of Senior Treatment Supervisor (STS) at Community Health Centre, Nuh be remained vacant until the next date of hearing.

Rajuddin claimed in Court that the Civil Surgeon-cum-Chairman of the Executive Committee, District Health and Family Welfare, Mewat assigned him to the position of Senior Treatment Supervisor (STS) under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM).

The employee revealed that he had been serving continuously since 2014. However, his services were subsequently terminated via impugned order dated 25.02.2021, without holding any investigation and/or giving any show-cause notice, and/or chance to be heard in person, based on the suspicion that he was involved in farmer’s protests.

The Court adjourned the matter to July 16, 2021, after issuing the notice.
