“Their goal is to make me feel like I’m crazy”, Britney Spears Tearfully to Court

Britney Spears, an American singer, song-writer won the Right to choose a lawyer for herself to come out of a 13-year long conservatorship with her father, Jamie Spears.

In American law, Conservatorship is an appointment made by judges for any person who is old or has a mental or physical illness. Judges appoint a guardian or a protector to manage financial affairs or daily life decisions for the particular person.

Britney tearfully pleaded in front of the Court to end this 13 yearlong conservatorship and remove his father from the role of controlling her business affairs.

Britney is under these terms since the year 2008 when she suffered a mental health breakdown, her father was appointed to make all the decisions on her behalf.

“You’re allowing my dad to ruin my life, I have to get rid of my dad and charge him with conservatorship abuse,” Britney said to the Court.

Britney contended that she had always been scared of her dad: “I’m not a perfect person. But their goal is to make me feel like I’m crazy,” she further added.

The Superior Court of Los Angeles, Judge Brenda Penny on Wednesday approved former federal prosecutor Mathew Rosengart to take the case of Britney Spears.

In June, Britney also complained that she was averted from getting married or having more children and reported that she was getting compelled and was given medication against her will.

Vivian Thoreen, the attorney of Jamie Spears responded that several complaints which were made by Britney were false.

“I’m not sure Ms Spears understands she can make medical decisions and can have birth control devices implanted or not,” he further added.

Many people protested by conducting rallies and chanting “Free Britney” outside the Courthouse.

“If you look at her, she looks tired. She just wants her life back and I understand that completely,” said fan Christina Goswick.

The case would be further heard on 29th September.
