77 Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) lawyers have died as a result of Covid-19, according to Chief Justice of India NV Ramana, who spoke during a two-minute silence to pay respects.

The Supreme Court of India reopened after the summer recess, with a two-minute silence observed by the Bench of the Chief Justice of India.

CJI Ramana stated, “The Supreme Court Bar Association’s Secretary has informed us. Covid-19 has claimed the lives of 77 SCBA members. We send our heartfelt sympathies. Before we begin the court, we observe a two-minute silence.”

A number of members of the Supreme Court Advocates-on-Record Association, in addition to SCBA members, were infected with COVID-19, particularly during the second wave.
