UPBRINGING & EDUCATION – Reddy was born in a middle class agriculture family. He did his alma mater from Medak and pursued BA followed by LL.B.

WALK OF LIFE – He was elected as the president of Patancheru Panchayat Samithi for the introduction of the panchayati raj system under Balwant Rai Mehta report. He further joined Congress and got elected to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly for five times. He also held the position of the chairman of the Industrial Development Corporation.In 1989, he got elected as the speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Andhra Pradesh and afterwards joined the cabinet of N. Janardhan Reddy as the Industries Minister. He quit the Congress Party in 1999 and contested unsuccessfully from the Medak Lok Sabha constituency on BJP ticket.
