REMARKABLE ACHIEVEMENT– He inaugurated the 49th statehood day or ‘Purnarajya Diwas’ celebrations at Rabindra Shatabarshiki 11 in Agartala, saying his government was working to achieve purnata (self-dependence) and making Tripura a model state in agriculture, entrepreneurship and law and order, among other key governance indices.
AWARDS– A befitting tribute to the remarkable contribution made by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji for fostering global peace and prosperity.
He is an Indian politician from Tripura and the current Chief Minister of Tripura. He has been the state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) in Tripura since 7 January 2016.
BACKGROUND- He led the BJP to victory in the 2018 Legislative Assembly Election, defeating 25 years rule of the Left Front government led by the Communist Party of India (Marxist). Biplab Deb was born in Udaipur, Gomati district, Tripura. He spent his childhood and schooling days in Tripura, completing his graduation from Tripura University before shifting to New Delhi to join RSS.

MAJOR INITIATIVES TAKEN– BJP-led government in the state has introduced 21 new schemes and taken significant steps in the past 2 years to improve the quality of education in the state. The CM while addressing an official function on Wednesday confidently stated that no other state government in the country has introduced a large number of 21 new schemes and taken a series of steps in just 23 months to develop the quality of education in the schools.
POSITION HELD –
2014- Biplab Kumar deb became the BJP state in-charge of Tripura. He started working toward strengthening the party in Tripura.
2016- He was appointed as president of the BJP state unit of Tripura on 7 January 2016.
2017- Biplab helped bring about the defection of Congress MLAs led by Sudip Roy Barman to the BJP on 8 August 2017.
2018- He won assembly election from Banamalipur constituency by defeating Amal Chakraborty of CPM. He was elected as Chief Minister of Tripura on 9 March 2018.
CONTROVERSIES/CASES – The person, Anupam Paul had allegedly posted on Facebook that Deb’s wife Niti had filed a divorce suit at the Tees Hazari court in Delhi.
Advocate Ashwani Jha, whose name was mentioned in the Facebook post told reporters over phone that it was about a divorce suit filed by a man who resides in Delhi and there is no connection with either the chief minister or his wife.
Deputy Inspector General(DIG) of Tripura Police Arindam Nath said a Agartala resident has filed the case against Paul at the Agartala police station charging him with forgery, defamation and criminal conspiracy.
Paul had posted objectionable material against former chief minister Manik Sarkar before the 2018 Tripura assembly elections.
