After the court suspended parts of its decision that had excluded Huawei, a Chinese telecom equipment maker, from 5G networks, Swedish telecoms regulator PTS has halted 5G spectrum auctions.
The court decided to allow Huawei’s involvement in Sweden’s impending 5G spectrum auction. The Stockholm administrative court said that parts of PTS’ decision would not be applicable until further notice.
After the United Kingdom, Sweden had last month banned Huawei equipment from its 5G network giving national security risk as the reason.
Huawei had appealed against the decision.
PTS had asked the participating companies to remove Huawei and ZTE equipment from their infrastructure.
Industry consultant John Strand that it was neither a victory for Huawei nor a defeat for the Swedish government.
