The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed charges against Sameer Wankhede and other individuals for alleged criminal conspiracy and extortion threats. The charges also include provisions related to bribery under the Prevention of Corruption Act. These charges were filed based on a complaint filed by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).

Sameer Wankhede has filed a petition before the Bombay High Court, requesting the quashing of an FIR filed against him by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The FIR alleges that Wankhede demanded a bribe of ₹25 crore from Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan to prevent implicating his son, Aryan Khan, in the Cordelia cruise drug bust case.

Wankhede’s petition also seeks protection from any coercive action related to the CBI’s FIR. The high court will hear his plea later in the day.

Former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officer Sameer Wankhede has filed a petition before the Bombay High Court, requesting the quashing of an FIR filed against him by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The FIR accuses Wankhede of demanding a bribe of ₹25 crore from Shah Rukh Khan, a popular Bollywood superstar, in exchange for not implicating his son Aryan Khan in the Cordelia cruise drug bust case. In addition to seeking the dismissal of the FIR, Wankhede also requested protection from any coercive action related to the CBI’s investigation. The high court is set to hear his plea later in the day.

The CBI recently filed the FIR against Wankhede and four others. Aryan Khan was arrested by the NCB on October 3, 2021, during a raid on the Cordelia cruise ship. He was later granted bail by the Bombay High Court after the NCB failed to substantiate the charges against him.

The CBI has charged Sameer Wankhede and others with criminal conspiracy, extortion threats, and bribery under the Prevention of Corruption Act based on a complaint filed by the NCB.

The investigating agency, CBI, has claimed that the NCB Mumbai Zone received information in October 2021 regarding the consumption and possession of narcotics substances by individuals on a private cruise ship. The CBI alleges that some officers of the NCB conspired and unlawfully benefited by accepting bribes from the accused individuals.

On Wednesday, the Delhi High Court granted Sameer Wankhede protection from coercive action for a period of five days. He has been given the freedom to approach the appropriate forum, which in this case would be the Bombay High Court.
