Kerala approves ordinance which provides 5 Yr jail term for offensive Social media post

Kerala government amended the Kerala Police Act which provides jail term of 5 years for any objectionable social media post like facebook and twitter post.

Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan given his approval to ordinance by LDF government amending the Kerala Police Act that provides for 5year jail term for any social media post which deemed to be offensive, objectionable and threatening.

Governor office confirmed that ordinance that incorporates a new Section, 118 (A), in the Kerala Police Act is signed.

As per new amendment if any person who creates or sends any information that is offensive or is intended to offend or threaten another person, through any means of communication, is liable to face imprisonment of five years or a fine of Rs 10,000 or both.
