A petition will be filed on January the 4th 2021 in the Punjab and Haryana High Court by Reliance Industries Limited by its subsidiary Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited to invoke the necessary govt. authorities required to cease illegal acts of vandalism that they say is done and aided by vested interests and business rivals.

This petition follows the order of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh when he directed the police to stop the vandalism that had been created in the duration of the farmers’ protests.

The farmers have been said to be allegedly incited by the youth Congress leader Srivatsa who claimed that the farmers had finally understood that the only way to make the Modi Government directly talk to them was by hurting the Ambanis, inferred by context to be referring to Mukesh Ambani, the founder of Reliance Jio.

Srivatsa had further said in the tweet that Modi would certainly come to the Singhu border if the acts of vandalism were maintained throughout India.

The Farmers’ protests started in response to the Farm Bills 2020 because to the opposition and the many farmers it brought to the streets, it was a document that would put farmers to the mercy of the corporation.

While there have been sparks of protests in other parts of the country, namely Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, and many other states, the movement has been the strongest in Punjab.

However in an affidavit talked about by the press on December 30th, 2020, that pertained to the prevention of arrests of several leaders of the protests by the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the Haryana government termed the protestors as people who majorly had a history of criminal activities and disrupting the public order.

Reliance, however, has clearly said that it supports farmers’ protests and has no plans of going into the farming sector and act against the farmers’ wishes in opposition to the tunes of Congress Youth Leader Srivatsa who very clearly indicated the destruction of Ambani vandalism as a way for an audience to the Prime Minister.

Reliance states a worry for its employees and their wellbeing along with an obstruction in their communications infrastructure which it deems necessary for their business.

Farmers had previously believed reliance to be one of the companies to benefit from the Farm Bills 2020, the other company being the Adani Group.

The rival groups mentioned by Reliance in their statement preceding the petition could be its two main competitors- Airtel and Vi who Reliance had mentioned in its stern letter to Telecom Regulating Authority of India (TRAI) on December 14th, 2020.

The letter complained of Airtel and Vi of spreading frivolous rumours that Reliance would be benefitting from the farmer’s protests when it says that it is far from likely as it does not even plan on entering any of the contracts that allow for corporations to involve themselves in the farming sector.
