Based on a complaint filed by one of the actors of the television show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, the Mumbai Police has registered a case against Asit Kumarr Modi (the producer), Sohail Ramani (the operation head), and Jatin Bajaj (the executive producer).
The Powai Police has filed a First Information Report (FIR) under sections 354 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which pertain to assault or criminal force with the intention to outrage the modesty of a woman. However, as of now, no arrests have been made in relation to this case. The Mumbai Police confirmed this information, stating that the Powai Police has registered the case based on the actor’s complaint.
The Mumbai Police has recorded the statement of an actor who filed a complaint against Asit Kumarr Modi, the producer of the show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, and two other crew members regarding allegations of sexual harassment.
The police have stated that they will soon summon Asit Kumarr Modi to obtain his statement. However, Asit Modi has vehemently denied the allegations, deeming them baseless. He has also stated his intention to take legal action against the actor for attempting to defame him.
The Mumbai Police confirmed that they received a written complaint from the actor, stating that she had been sexually harassed by Asit Modi and certain crew members. However, an FIR (First Information Report) has not been registered yet, and an inquiry has been initiated by the police.
In response to the allegations, the accused trio and the team of directors released an official statement refuting all the claims. They suggested that the actor’s motivations were driven by personal vendetta due to the termination of her work contract with the production house.
Sohail Ramani and Jatin Bajaj, who were also named in the complaint, have strongly denied the allegations made against them. In their statement, they claimed that the actor had consistently exhibited disruptive behavior towards the entire team of the show.
They further alleged that during one instance, she recklessly drove her car at high speed, disregarding the safety of people in her path and causing damage to the set property.
The statement also mentioned that her contract was terminated due to her misconduct and lack of discipline during the shoot. It was emphasized that during the incident in question, Asit Kumarr Modi was in the USA and not present on the set. Sohail and Jatin asserted that the actor is now attempting to defame them and the show through unsubstantiated accusations.
They stated that they have already lodged a complaint with the relevant authorities regarding these baseless allegations.
