The Panel appointed by the Supreme Court to negotiate between the Union Government and the Farmers Association assured that their personal views on this matter will not reflect in the report.

“We request the protesting farmers unions to come and speak with us; we are not from any political party. We will also talk to the government,” panel member Anil Ghanwat.

The clarification came in response to the farmers’ as well as peoples’ apprehensions over the Supreme Court Committee’s bias in this issue.

The Panel has planned to meet the Farmers’ Union on 21st January 2021 to know whether they want the acts to be repealed or not. However, Mr. Ghanwat also said that recently formed unions will not be called for the meeting.

The Panel is also considering to make a website for suggestions from people.

The Supreme Court Panel was set up following the Apex Court’s directions for the same on 12th January 2021. The Court suspended the operation of the three impugned farm laws by passing an order to stay these laws on January 12.

This came into effect following the increased tensions between the two adversaries, the Government and the Farmers, and unsuccessful rounds of talks.

The next round of talk between the Centre and the Farmers’ Union is expected to take place on 20th January 2021 in New Delhi.
