UP Court issued a Non-Bailable Warrant against Samajwadi Party Leader Azam Khan in 15-Year-Old Case

The Case is related to Azam Khan, Leader of the Samajwadi Party, allegedly making Exasperating and Offensive Remarks while Campaigning ahead of Assembly Elections in Firozabad’s Hussaini locality on April 2, 2007.

He has been behind bars for over two years and has been Ordered to appear before the Additional Judicial Magistrate in Firozabad on April 30.

The Complaint was Registered against the Leader at Rasulpur Police Station on April 4, 2007. Azam Khan was booked for Breaching Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code and Violating Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.

In this Case, Azam Khan had previously taken a Stay Order against arrest from the High Court, while the matter was also being heard in the Court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Amrish Tripathi.

Azam Khan contested the Rampur seat in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls and won for the tenth time, being in Sitapur Jail. He served as a Cabinet Minister while the Samajwadi Party was in power between 2012 and 2017.
