In a significant move towards digitization, the Supreme Court of India has expanded its e-initiatives by providing free Wi-Fi access to advocates, litigants, media persons, and other stakeholders visiting the esteemed institution. The initiative, which was initially implemented in select areas, has now been extended to all the remaining courtrooms and additional spaces within the premises.

Effective from July 3, 2023, the facility of free Wi-Fi is now available in the Chief Justice’s Court, as well as Court Nos. 2 to 5, including the corridor and plaza in front. Additionally, the waiting areas in front of the plaza canteen and Press Lounge-I & II have also been equipped with this service.

The latest development expands the accessibility of free Wi-Fi to encompass all courtrooms from Court No. 6 to 17, along with their adjoining areas. Moreover, areas such as Bar Library-I & II, Ladies Bar Room, and Bar Lounge are also covered under this initiative. By including these spaces, the Supreme Court aims to provide seamless connectivity and enhance convenience for all individuals involved in legal proceedings.

To avail themselves of the free Wi-Fi service, users need to log in to “SCI_WiFi.” Upon logging in, users are required to enter their mobile numbers and authenticate their access by using the one-time password (OTP) sent to their registered mobile devices.

This technological upgrade within the Supreme Court of India aligns with the institution’s ongoing commitment to harnessing digital advancements and leveraging technology for effective and efficient operations. By facilitating internet access, the Supreme Court seeks to streamline communication, research, and information retrieval for all stakeholders involved in legal proceedings.

The availability of free Wi-Fi is expected to benefit advocates, litigants, media personnel, and other individuals associated with the legal fraternity by enabling them to stay connected, access online resources, and remain updated on relevant developments within and outside the courtroom. Additionally, this e-initiative aligns with the broader vision of fostering a digitally empowered and progressive judiciary in India.

The introduction of free Wi-Fi in the Supreme Court of India not only underscores the institution’s commitment to embracing technology but also reflects its dedication to improving the overall experience for all those who engage with the court’s proceedings.
