Supreme Court: Judges should retire at age of 65 yrs only

Apex Court’s Judge S. Ravindra Bhat believed that the retirement age of the Supreme Court and the High Court Judges should not be more than the age limit of 65 years.

In India, the retirement age of a Supreme Court Judge is 65 years and that of the High Court is 62 years.

Justice S. Ravindra Bhat stated, “Younger people should get the opportunity to serve at the Bench. With youth, comes fresh ideas. They bring to the table a freshness of inquiry and fullness of information about contemporary events which we old folks would not only be insulted but also resistant to.” 

Justice S. Ravindra Bhat remarked at the launch of a book by Aseem Chawla, “Finding a straight line between twists and turns.” It is based on the evolution of the Indian tax landscape.

Justice S. Ravindra Bhat stated, “The link between Taxation and Justice is a classic debate while also being relevant at a time of changing environmental factors and conditions of social and economic systems.”

The other chief guests who attended the event were Justice Sanghi of the Delhi High Court and Society of Indian Law Firms President, Dr Lalit Bhasin.
