The Supreme Court denied the ex-director of Amrapali Group’s request for Bail on medical grounds in the Money Laundering case against him, stating that it is not a case of a medical emergency.

The Apex Court stated that the Petition for medical Bail has been unsuccessfully pursued since September 2020.

Ex-director Shiv Priya’s appeal against the Allahabad High Court’s August 4 ruling rejecting his Bail Application was dismissed by a panel of Justices AM Khanwilkar and CT Ravikumar, who said, “We decline to meddle in this special leave Petition as it is not a case of a medical emergency as such.”

The Supreme Court ordered the Special Judge, PMLA, Lucknow, to resolve the Petitioner’s pending regular Bail Plea as soon as possible, and no later than one month after receipt of a copy of this decision.

Apart from the Enforcement Directorate, the Delhi Police’s Economic Offence Wing (EOW) and other Investigating Authorities are looking into the alleged irregularities perpetrated by the senior brass of the Amrapali Group’s former proprietors.

On two new charges of defrauding and criminal breach of trust, the EOW of the Delhi police arrested the two ex-directors, Anil Kumar Sharma and Shiv Priya, last year.

The Apex Court ordered the Enforcement Directorate to investigate allegations of Money Laundering against ex-Amrapali top brass on July 23, 2019.

It had given relief to over 42,000 Amrapali group home buyers by ordering the state-run National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) to finish the realtor’s halted projects.
