The Supreme Court Collegium reiterated its recommendation of appointment of 12 Candidates to five High Courts, including three Judicial Officers.

The 12 names were repeated, despite the Government’s objection, by the Supreme Court Collegium, led by the Chief Justice of India NV Ramana.

The recommendations of the Collegium were posted on the Supreme Court’s official website.

Some of Collegium’s recommendations have been reiterated twice and are still pending with the Government because of ‘Adverse’ Reports.

The Government is bound by Protocol to accept the Collegium’s recommendations, when those are reiterated following the Centre’s Objections.

The Law Ministry has the Right to ask the Supreme Court for ‘Clarifications.’

However, the Centre has sent back several recommendations to the Supreme Court Collegium for Reconsiderations, and in various cases this has invariably led to the cancellation of some recommendations.
