Recently, actor Rajinikanth, who has joined the politics with his new political party, was summoned by a Tamil Nadu court over his controversial statements in the Vedanta’s Sterlite factory case.

The case is related to the violence that took place in the year 2018, in Vedanta’s factory in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu.

In the 2018 incident, 13 protestors were killed. A statement made by Rajinikanth on this issue has pulled him into a controversy.

Earlier, Rajinikanth was ordered to appear before the court, but he asked for an exemption to not appear citing lack of time.

In the case, Rajinikanth stated that “some anti-social elements had infiltrated the demonstration.”

On the other side, the local citizens alleged that the police had attacked the protestors.

Apart from this, it has also been claimed that the police had set the vehicles on fire to stop the protest. This resulted in violence and killed 13 people.

Actor Rajinikanth said that he would begin his political party in January and that the date will be declared on 31st December 2020.

Last month Rajinikanth had denied statements that were claiming that he was quitting politics.

He agreed that some facts of the statement related to his health were true, and after discussions with functionaries of his unified fan club, he would announce to the people about his political career.

The letter which was doing rounds was said to be ‘leaked’ mentioned that his doctors have expressed reservations over Rajini entering active politics, as he had undergone a kidney transplant and because there is no COVID-19 vaccine yet.

He has now been ordered to appear in court on January 19.
