A Special Court ordered the Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) Police Station to register an FIR against three Police Officers including Officer in-charge of the same police station Radhika Raman Minz, Ranchi city SP Saurav, DSP PK Mishra besides JMM leader Pankaj Mishra, in nexus with the Rupa Tirkey death case.
The Special Court ruling responded to a Complaint from Rupa Tirkey’s mother, Padmavati . Tirkey, a former Police Officer at the Sahibganj Mahila Police Station, was found dead in a mysterious situation at her official residence in 2020.
Tirkey was found hanging on May 3, 2021, at her official residence in Sahibganj. The case sparked protests from social organizations, despite Tilky’s father expressing distrust in a police investigation in Sahibganj, which declared a suicide case. A colleague of Rupa Tirkey’s was arrested by local police for assisted suicide and is currently in jail.
A Petition was also filed in the Jharkhand High Court, which ordered a CBI probe into the case. The CBI has registered a case and investigation is underway.
According to a complaint filed in a special court on September 23, 2021, Tirkey’s mother was asked to register a FIR against DSP and Pankaj Mishra in this context with Ranchi’s ST / SC police station on September 11.
