Son approaches Court claiming father missing from Judicial Remand in Kolkata

Calcutta High Court Ordered the West Bengal Government to submit a report regarding a Plea filed by a man who claims that his father has been missing from a Judicial Remand at the Presidency Correctional Home. The Government is supposed to submit the report by December 30, 2021.

Buddhadeb Bhowmick claimed that his father Ranjit Bhowmick, who was Arrested in relation to a case of Alleged possession of spurious liquor, is missing from a correctional home while in Judicial Remand.

A Calcutta High Court Vacation Bench of Justices R K Kapur and Krishna Rao Ordered the State Government to file and submit a report pertaining to the Petition made by Buddhadeb Bhowmick in regards with his father.

The Petitioner, Buddhadeb Bhowmick complained that his father was Arrested in regards with a case of possession of liquor and was placed under Judicial Remand by the Uluberia Court. The Petitioner claimed that his father was later on transferred to the Presidency Correctional Home from Uluberia sub-divisional correctional home due deterioration of his health.

The father of the Petitioner was granted Bail on December 21, 2021 by the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Uluberia. The Petitioner claimed that when he went to the Presidency Correctional Home to pick up his father on December 22, the authorities informed him his father was released on December 21, 2021.

The Petitioner complained that there has been foul play and that he has filed two complaints pertaining to the matter.
