Sidhu Moosewala Murder Case: SC Questions Punjab Police on Number of FIRs Against Lawrence Bishnoi

The Supreme Court of India on Thursday was a hearing a plea filed by father of Lawrence Bishnoi against transit remand ordered by a Delhi High Court for production of his son in Moose Wala murder case who has been in police custody since June 13, 2022.

A bench of Justices Ajay Rastogi and BV Nagarathna orally remarked today that “Treat him like (Bishnoi) a citizen. For one FIR, keep him for 10 days, in the second FIR you keep this for another 10 days. What is this?…”

The court has demanded the total number of FIRs for which he has been in custody since 13th June, 2022 as it is unclear for which reason he is in custody.

The top court also questioned the Punjab State government that the how the Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi had been kept in custody since 13 June, 2022, and the number of FIRs that were registered against him. He is currently the prime accused for the murder of famous singer and Congress leader Sidhu Moose Wala.

The bench asked the counsel to be fair in the process, and sought a clear plan for the further police investigation of this case. They also informed them to tag all matters moved by Bishnoi and his father together.

Senior Advocate Abhishek Singhvi, appearing for the State had told the Court that Bishnoi is facing 57 FIRs and that he was escorted to Mansa with 100 policemen.

Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu aka Sidhu Moose Wala was murdered on May 29, 2022 and was a Congress candidate from the Mansa seat in the Punjab Assembly Elections.

The Punjab police had alleged that Bishnoi was the mastermind behind the elimination of Moose Wala and carried this out from Tihar jail.
