SC Proceedings to be Live Streamed for First Time Today

The Supreme Court‘s hearings will be aired live today for the first time in its 71-year history. Only the ceremonial bench, which will include outgoing Chief Justice of India NV Ramana, will be streamed live.

On his last day of employment, Chief Justice of India NV Ramana will share the bench with the incoming chief justice. After CJI Ramana retired, Justice UU Lalit was just named the 49th Chief Justice of India.

It will be broadcast live on the NIC webcast platform.

Its been notified that the proceedings of the Hon’ble Chief Justice’ Court, or Ceremonial Bench, on August 26, 2022, begin at 10:30 A.M., will be live streamed through the NIC’s Webcast page on the eve of the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India’s retirement.

Live streaming of important constitutional issues heard in the Court of the Chief Justice of India was permitted on September 26, 2018, by a three-judge Supreme Court panel that included the then Chief Justice of India, Dipak Misra, and Justices AM Khanwilkar and DY Chandrachud.

The apex court was striving to ensure that court proceedings went live before CJI Ramana retired.

Additionally, it was disclosed that the Supreme Court e-committee was creating a separate website to host the live broadcast, which would be accessible to the high courts and district courts as well.
