The U.S Supreme Court refused to stop the enforcement of the Texas Abortion law.

Texas Abortion law bans abortion for women after six weeks of knowledge about the pregnancy, this decision by the Apex Court is considered to be a landmark judgement in the disputes over abortion laws.

By getting the ratio of 5:4 the Court denied the request for a ban on the enforcement of the law. The request was made by Abortion and Women’s Health Providers

The Judges who had disagreed stated that “Presented with an application to enjoin a flagrantly unconstitutional law engineered to prohibit women from exercising their constitutional rights and evade judicial scrutiny, a majority of justices have opted to bury their heads in the sand.”

The Abortion Rights groups contended that this particular law will lead to a near-total ban on abortion in Texas, as nearly 90% of the abortion takes place after six weeks of pregnancy, which would adversely affect the clinics as well.

There has been no such ban allowed in any state after the Apex Court decision on Roe v. Wade which in 1973, legalized abortion nationwide.

The Court has decided to hear further arguments in October and will give a ruling by the end of June 2022.
