The Supreme Court today issued a notice in a Writ Petition filed by the doctors.

The Petition was filed to bring the Apex Court’s attention to the problems faced by the NEET PG aspirants as they were not allowed to change their centres if needed for NEET PG 2021.

A Bench comprising Justices UU Lalit, Ajay Rastogi and Vikram Nath issued the notice with regards to Petitioners 1 and 2 who are 7 and 8 months pregnant respectively.

The Apex Court directed the authorities to decide this matter within two days.

Senior Advocate Kavin Gulati appearing on behalf of the Petitioners argued that when the doctors had first filled the form they were at the final stage.

Senior Advocate Gulati futher said, “On 06.08.2021, they said that the new candidates who had filled were allowed to choose the centres & not the ones who had filled the form & were eligible earlier.”

It was also stated by him that the students have requested the National Board of Examination to change the window for taking the exam after the notification was announced.

Senior Advocate Mahinder Singh, on behalf of the Respondents, stated that as the admit cards were already issued and a general observation for all the candidates could not be made at this point.

The petition filed stated that the candidates had chosen their centres according to their nearest location for their exam which was to be held on 18th April earlier.

But then it was rescheduled to 18th September and now many students are facing problems with their centres chosen.

Justice UU Lalit said that “The situation now is that there is a lot of prejudice caused to the people who want to give the exams. Allowing them change of centre and statuses is the least you can do”.
