The United States President Joe Biden on February 24, confirmed that the United States was in consultation with India on the ongoing Ukraine Crisis. The confirmation was given by President Biden during a White House press conference in an answer to the question that whether India was fully on board with the United States on the Russian aggression.
Biden who held his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin sole responsible for the attack on Ukraine said, “We are going to have consultations with India (on the Ukrainian crisis). We haven’t resolved that fully”.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin through a televised address said his move to launch a military operation in Ukraine came in response to threats emanating from the neighboring country. He further warned the nations that any interference with the Russian military operation will result in consequences that they have never seen.
President of the United States (POTUS) in the press conference also reiterated invoking stringent sanctions on some of the major Russian banks that were not included in the first tranche of sanctions, including VTB(Russian State-Owned Bank).
As it seems India and the United States are not on the same page on the matter of the Ukrainian Crisis.
As known to the world, India has a long-standing friendship with Russia and at the same time, ties between the United States and India have become stronger over the last decade and a half.
As per the reports, the Biden administration has reached out to their Indian counterparts on various levels seeking full support from it on the Ukrainian crisis.
Reportedly various countries like the United States, Canada, Germany have issued a series of sanctions on Russia to prevent it from accessing Western Financial Markets.
