The roaster system will be applied to the District Courts when the courts start sessions in the state capital of Lucknow and the rest of Uttar Pradesh.

The Allahabad High Court administration has decided that the cases will be heard by a maximum of eight judicial officers on a rotation basis.

Under Section 164 of the CrPC, these Courts will list key new cases for hearing, including bail applications, discharge applications, and record statements.

Besides that, the Courts will schedule hearings on remand applications and discharge applications in criminal cases.

The High Court administration has also decided that key civil matters will be listed for hearing.

Sanjeev Pandey, General Secretary of the Central Bar Association (Lucknow District Court) said, “Which new case would be listed for hearing will be decided at the local level (District Court).”

At the local level (District Court), the method for taking bonds will be decided, and all judgements will be submitted to the case information system.

Three Courts are now considering cases in the Lucknow District Court via virtual hearing. Four Courts will reopen for business today. Eight Courts will be operational after the partial corona curfew is lifted.

Summer vacations in both District and High Courts were moved up due to the covid-19 pandemic.

In light of the pandemic, it has also been agreed that on any given day, not more than 30% of Court staff, including class four personnel, will be assigned duties.

Meanwhile, the Allahabad High Court’s Lucknow bench has ordered that starting today, only virtual hearings of cases will be held.

Physical hearings will be held exclusively in urgent cases decided by the High Court.
