On January 21, 2022, a person Accused under Offence of Rape and Kidnapping was shot dead by the father of the Rape Survivor outside the Civil Court in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.
Dilshad Hussain was Accused of Allegedly Kidnapping and Raping a Minor girl. Dilshad Hussain was booked under Section 363 (Punishment for Kidnapping), Section 366 (Kidnapping, Abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage) and Section 367 (Kidnapping or Abducting in Order to subject person to grievous hurt, Slavery, etc.) of the Indian Penal Code and also the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
Dilshad Hussain had Kidnapped the daughter of the shooter named Bhagwat Nishad, a retired officer of the Border Security Force, on February 12, 2020. Bhagwat Nishad had filed a Complaint in this regard on February 17, 2020. Dilshad Hussain was Arrested on March 12, 2021 in Hyderabad.
The incident of the shooting occurred when Dilshad Hussain had reached the gate of the District Court while waiting for his Advocate Shankar Sharan Shukla.
Senior Superintendent of Police Gorakhpur in this regard stated, “The Accused has been Arrested. During interrogation, he told us that Dilshad took away her minor daughter (in February 2020) and a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, was registered against him. Dilshad was shot after a brief altercation between the two at the taxi stand (of the Court). The body is being sent for a Post-Mortem Examination.”
