To consider evidence in a criminal investigation into former President Donald Trump’s business dealings, New York prosecutors have come together with a special grand jury.

A wide range investigation is being conducted by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. in the matters of hush-money payments to women, property valuations and employee compensation.

The development comes after the Attorney was moving towards seeking charges as a result of two year investigation and lengthy legal battle to obtain Trump’s tax records.

The Grand Jury is expected to work on the case along with other matters and will be meeting 3 days a week for a period of six months.

While Trump contended the investigation to be a witch hunt, Vance’s office declined to comment on the same.

After the civil investigation into Trump involved into a criminal matter, Attorney General Letitia James assigned 2 lawyers to work with Vance’s office.

Former mafia prosecutor Mark Pomerantz is hired to run the investigation and has already interviewed witnesses including Michael Cohen, Trump’s former personal lawyer.

While the documents are protected by the grand jury secrecy rules and are not made public, Trump has continued contending that he has been unfairly attacked and abused by a corrupt political system.

Vance’s investigation has focused on Trump’s finance chief, Allen Weisselberg and his former daughter in law Jen Weisselberg who is cooperating well with both inquiries.
