The Bombay High Court slams Maharashtra Government for making a mockery of education system by cancelling the exams of Class 10.

A division bench of Justices S J Kathawalla and S P Tavade while hearing a petition questioned the government the reason for not setting aside the order of cancellation of exams of Class 10 despite the fact that the cases in the state are declining.

Slamming the government over such order, the court said, “Tenth standard is an important year and hence the exam is also important.”

The court sought the reply from the government for the reason behind the discrimination of cancelling the exams of Class 10 but not for Class 12 in the name of the pandemic.

While addressing the issue of online exams, the court said that multiple choice questions cannot be the right way to assess students.

The court has listed the matter for future hearing on next week directing the government to file an affidavit till date explaining the reason to not set aside the said order.
