The Madras High Court instituted Contempt of Court Proceedings against Advocate RD Santhana Krishnan, seen in a disconcerting position with a woman during Virtual Hearing.

The distressing action took place in presence of the Bench led by Justice GK Ilanthiraiyan.

Further a Division Bench comprising Justices PN Prakash and R Hemalatha initiated Suo Motu Contempt Proceedings.

Furthermore, the Madras High Court stated “This Court cannot afford to be a mute spectator and turn a Nelson’s eye when such brazen vulgarity is publicly displayed amidst Court Proceedings.”

The Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry suspended the Advocate from practicing before all Courts and Tribunals in India.

The Madras High Court further directed a CB-CID Probe into the incident alleging the commission of Cognizable Offences under the Information Technology Act and other Penal Laws.

The Madras High Court posted the case for a further hearing on December 23.
